I will be one of the first ones to admit that I’m not a huge fan of guest posting but it is a great way to get a lot of traffic very quick. Long term, guest posting is something I do sparingly. Maybe because I’m selfish and I want to keep all my juicy content to myself! But in the beginning it can be used heavily to accelerate growth and help you build your list of subscribers.
Something I learned very early on in marketing is to not wait for your target audience to find you but to actually go to your target audience. That is something I talk about in many of my training’s. So many become passive marketers and wonder why they can’t get traffic. You have to be willing to go out there and get traffic before traffic naturally comes to you.
I’m not going to go into depth as to what guest blogging is. I’m sure many of you know already. Plus there are so many good guides on guest blogging like The Definitive Guide To Guest Blogging from Backlinko.com
I want to show you how guest blogging can help you grow your list of subscribers quickly. The most amazing thing about guest blogging is the ability to reach your target audience. If you can land a guest post on a popular blog in your niche you can get a ton of quality targeted traffic very fast. When you’re trying to grow your subscribers with guest blogging there is one thing that you absolutely must do.
Deliver value with a high quality piece of content and leave the reader asking for more.
Delivering quality content is going to show you that you are an expert and an authority in your niche. (Someone in your niche that people can trust and get valuable information from.) But….when you leave them asking for more you get them back to your website. More importantly, you get them to your squeeze page.
Side note: If you don’t want to send them to your squeeze page you should at least have the content you are sending them to optimized to get subscribers. In this case you might want to use something like Hybrid Connect to add optin boxes in your content. You can see my Hybrid Connect Review here.
Now in order for this to work it is very important that your guest post is very related to your free offer that you are giving away on your squeeze page. If you want to get subscribers from guest posting this is necessary!
This can be best explained using an example:
If I was giving away a free report on list building I might do a guest post on how to get traffic to your squeeze page.
The guest post might be titled something like “The Top 3 Ways To Get Traffic To Your Squeeze Page”
Then my author bio might read something like this:
William is a list building expert. Click here to get his complete guide to list building including the top 10 ways to get traffic to your squeeze page.
And obviously my author bio would link back to my squeeze page. The key thing here is that everything is very related.
My free guide is about list building and includes the top 10 ways to get traffic to your squeeze page. The guest blog post is 3 of the 10 methods to get traffic to your squeeze page. And then the author bio tells them how to get a free guide on list building that includes even more ways to get traffic to their squeeze page.
The relevancy of these three can make it a winning combination. And guess what…we are leaving them asking for more. If they like your three traffic tips they are certainly going to want to get all ten.
This is why guest posting on other blogs can be such a great tool to build a list. Just keep in mind that you don’t want to waste your time on blogs that aren’t going to generate traffic. Instead of making 20 average or low quality guest posts try to land 2 or 3 high quality posts on popular blogs. This is the best way to build your list with guest posting.
